Hertfordshire Water Activities Day gives Cubs/Scouts the chance to experience three water activities during either a morning or afternoon and to earn their Level 1 Nautical Skills and Paddlesports badges.
The event takes place at ESSA Water Activities Centre in the Lee Valley. Cubs/Scouts will take part in canoeing, kayaking and dragon boating over 3 hours under the direction of qualified instructors. All equipment is provided.
Please note any young person who wishes to attend must be able to swim a minimum of 50m or be water confident.

Kit List:
Before you go onto the water for any activity you must be dressed and prepared for the activity.
With any water sport, there is a risk of waterborne diseases. To minimise the risk, cover cuts and wash your hands before eating.
You need to have:

A towel & a Complete Change of Clothes (Old Clothes are recommended).

Wetsuits maybe worn (but not Essential).
-
No Jeans, Hard Shoes or Boots may be worn.
-
A waterproof jacket and waterproof Trousers.
-
A sun hat and sun cream are essential in all weathers.
-
Soft shoes must be worn at all times. No one is allowed to go barefoot. No Crocs.
-
Glasses must be tied on as they can slip off into the water.
-
Any Inhalers or medication in a named waterproof pack.

A snack for afterwards.

Cubs must bring top half uniform to change into for the presentation.
NOTE: It is recommended that you bath or shower as soon as you return home. If serious flu like symptoms develop up to 3 weeks afterwards, see your doctor and inform them you have been in contact with open water.

Please ensure the parent/guardian who is dropping off your child, has all the details including the unique code for the Water Activity Passport.
We kindly ask that you do NOT arrive before 8.30am for the morning session.
When arriving or departing around 12.30pm, please be patient as we change over sessions so there may be a short delay in traffic.
